Dr Mike Parker – Associate Professor – Emergency Nursing

Mike is an academic with 20 years experience in the NHS sector and 10 years experience in the university sector. He completed an Honours degree in Acute Healthcare at the University of Leeds in 2006, a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education at Sheffield Hallam University in 2014 and his Professional Doctor of Education in December 2020 at the University of Hull. Mike was elected as a Fellow of the Faculty of Emergency Nursing and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2011. Mike’s clinical background is in Emergency Nursing, and Mike has worked at several Major Trauma Centres and Emergency Departments over the last 20 years. Mike’s clinical and academic interests are the identification of the deteriorating patient, resuscitation and trauma care. Mike is a registered instructor with the Resuscitation Council UK and instructs and directs on national courses. For the last 3 years Mike has made invaluable contributions to pre-registration midwifery education and our Connected Curriculum, predominantly applying his expertise to the emergency midwifery management module.
